Important COVID-19 news

Aloha MTA.

We have discovered that our MTA ohana is not immune to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Management was notified today, July 29th, that one of our employees has tested positive for COVID-19.  The employee continues to be asymptomatic.

The employee last worked at Rec. 2, which was closed down for a thorough cleaning as an extra precaution.  This was in addition to our normal disinfecting of high contact surfaces done regularly by MTA staff.  The employee had minimal contact with members and coworkers, and wore a face mask and social distanced during their shifts.

The Dept. of Health has been notified, and an investigator will be assigned to follow up with anyone who may have been in contact with this employee.  They will be given the names of all coworkers and members who were at the Rec. Center at the same time as the employee, and will contact anyone who may have been exposed.

At MTA we take the safety of our members and employees seriously.  All employees answer a questionnaire and have to pass a temperature check before being allowed to work their shift.  Employees who are ill are required to stay home.  Members are required to wear a face mask to enter the facilities.  We have staff to monitor compliance and others to disinfect.  Rest assured these procedures will continue as we all do our part to end this pandemic.

If we receive any additional information, we will share it with you immediately.

Mahalo and stay safe,

Bob Barrett

President

UPDATE 07/31/20:
Good news! The Dept. of Health has completed their investigation and concluded there was no exposure to members or employees. The employee who tested positive wore a mask the entire time, kept proper distancing, and had minimal interaction with anyone. The Dept. of Health has closed the investigation.
